National Luna offers a reliable solution to multi-battery systems in vehicles. Their split-charge system works by allowing both the starting battery and auxilliary batteries to charge together when the vehicle is running, then isolate them when the vehicle stops. This approch ensures that any appliances connected to the auxilliary batteries do not affect the main vehicle battery.

Split-Charge systems are widely used in the 4x4 and boating industries where a main starting battery needs to be isolated from auxilliary batteries when appliances or extra loads run the risk of flattening the starting battery, leaving you stranded.

Split-charge systems must be able to sense when to connect the batteries and when to isolate them. The National Luna split-charge system does this by means of a combination of accurate voltage sensing and timing sequences. Additionally, errors such as open or short-circuits need to be detected and dealt with accordingly.

The National Luna split-charge system allows the user to control the connection of the batteries by overriding the built-in timer. Safety has been kept in mind: The system will not connect if either of the two batteries are disconnected, short-circuited or too flat to charge safely. The system also allows the user to "jump-start" either battery from the other. Particularly useful if your starting battery is flat.

The new battery monitor range has been designed to cover a variety of applications where it is important to monitor the state of a battery. Using digital technology, the new battery monitors constantly measure the voltage of your battery and warn you when the battery is getting flat or when the battery is being overcharged. Visual and audible alarms are standard on most models. Features such as alarm silence and sleep mode are also available.
