All Eezi Awn tents need to be shipped truck freight or LTL due to the size of the product. We custom palletize each tent and ship via Fed Ex National LTL. There are several factors that go into the shipping cost: model of tent, commercial/residential delivery, and lift gate needed or not. The best scenario is delivery to a commercial address with a dock or forklift availability. Or you can request us to hold it at the closest Fed Ex LTL facility for pickup. That is the least expensive route, and runs from $150-200 depending on the model. Residential delivery adds $75, and a lift gate adds another $75. If you don’t have extra bodies to help lift the tent off the truck, you will need a lift gate. So the cost for delivery ranges from $150 to $350 depending on how you want it to show up. PerformanceHow does it hold up to the wind?
The Eezi Awn tents enjoy a very rigid construction. The rigid platform and sturdy aluminum framework stand up well to wind. There is a certain amount of buffeting from the vehicle in a wind storm, but the tent structure is designed to withstand wind gusting to 60 mph. You won’t blow away. How does it hold up to the cold? The heavy ripstop canvas used in the construction of the tents helps keep the warmth in and the cold out. The 2” inch thick dual density mattress insulates you from the platform, and the platform itself insulates as well. The Eezi Awn is designed to be a serious 4 season tent. How does it hold up to snow? Eezi Awn has been tested to the limits of the Arctic Circle in winter, and performed flawlessly. The durable PVC fabric awning sheds snow brilliantly and the wax impregnated canvas easily dismisses the white stuff as well. Being elevated from the ground removes all the concerns associated with sleeping on the ground. You are well above the rest. MountingHow does the tent mount on the roof?
The base platform of the Eezi Awn roof tent is a urethane encased plyboard supported by a framework of unique aluminum extrusions that run the perimeter of the tent roughly 3” in from the edge. Each extrusion has the capacity to accept a rectangular aluminum washer that can slide the length of the extrusion. Each washer captivates the head of a stainless steel hex headed bolt. There are 4 of the washer/bolt assemblies the can slide and adjust to an infinite amount of fastening possibilities. Slide them as close to the 4 corners of the tent as you can, and mount the tent to your roof rack or load bar system. Please see the Technical Specifications page for measurements and examples. Will this work on my (insert vehicle)? There are a plenty of size options of Eezi Awn tents. With the unique universal mounting possibilities this tent has to offer, odds are there is a tent for your application. We have mounted tents to all major brands of SUV, and pickup, several cars, and even a two seater ATV. If you have a question regarding you specific situation, please feel free to contact us. Can I put a tent on my existing rack? All factory racks are not made equal, so the answer is maybe. Factors including the vehicle, the tent size, and the intended road conditions all play into this decision. We have mounted many of our roof tents on factory racks with the aid of aftermarket load bar configurations. Contact us and we’ll discuss your application. What kind of load bars do you suggest for my (insert vehicle)? Light duty load bars, such as Yakima or Thule, work well for the smaller size tents. The 1200 and 1400 models, for instance. A pair of these bars mounted to your vehicle can sustain your use. If you are going with a larger model tent, or plan on using your tent extensively off-road, we suggest a more substantial purpose built load bar or roof rack system, such as those offered by Front Runner. The goal is to provide as much support as possible and disburse the weight of the tent and guests as evenly over the roof as possible. The more feet the better. Contact us and we will be happy to discuss your application. Can you put a family size tent on a vehicle? We have several customers that enjoy their family roof tents on their full size SUVs. They do tend to take the whole roof line, but it is definitely possible. The key, again, is weight disbursement. Can you mount this tent to round roof rack bars? There are several popular brands of sport rack systems that utilize round bars as the platform for their products. Yakima is perhaps the most well known. They make an accessory called a Universal Snar that allows you to clamp just about anything to their system. These work perfectly as a mounting option for putting a roof top tent on your vehicle. We prefer a flat bar system to a round bar because the extrusion on the tent base has a flat bottom. The more surface touching, the better. Also, after time the round bars can flatten the extrusions track that the mounting washer slides in. This can reduce the extrusions capability. How much clearance do I need from the roof to the rack to access the mounting hardware? It is wise to leave yourself at least a couple inches between the roof of your vehicle and the tent mounting for several reasons. First, the use of a socket or wrench to access the mounting hardware requires a little space to work in. Second, if something were to happen to your tent and there were a downward force of some nature, a buffer zone could mean the difference between roof damage and none. InformationDo you have any brochures on your products?
Yes we do. You can either download them from this page, or contact us and we will send you one in the mail. What is the warranty on your tents? The Eezi Awn tent is warranted against defects in materials and workmanship. Period. If there is an issue with your tent, and it is a matter of faulty manufacture, we will do our part to make it right for you. We reserve the right to review the concern and base judgment on age and upkeep of product. Who do I contact with questions or issues? What size bed do the different sizes relate to? When open, all Eezi Awn tents measure the same length. Approximately 8 feet. The variance is in the width. Each model number corresponds to metric millimeter width. It is easier to understand the sizes by thinking of them in terms of traditional bed widths. Each model is within a few inches, give or take, of standard bed sizes. What are the dimensions on each tent? I need both the total and mounting frame sizes. Please refer to the Technical Specifications page in this section for all the dimensions you require. Dimensions also available in PDF. What are the differences between the Econo tent and the Series 3 tents? The Econo model of the Eezi Awn tent shares a lot of the same high quality features with the Series 3. Same dimensions as a 1200, same platform design, same spanner bar construction, same ladder. The differences include a lighter weight material in construction, the rain fly is integrated into the walls of the tent, the extrusions on base are in a different pattern, and the cover does not include compression straps. The Econo is a lighter version of the Series 3, and lighter in cost as well. It is still an Eezi Awn. How much does each of the tents weigh? Please refer to the Technical Specifications page in this section for all the dimensions you require. Dimensions are also available in PDF. Is the T-Top floor attached to the walls? No, it is not. The purpose for the floor being a separate panel and material is two-fold. The floor is made of an open weave material to allow dirt, dust, and liquids to fall through to the ground, making the floor easier to keep clean. Secondly, attaching the walls to the sides would make the T-Top panels extremely difficult to manage, with a supporting ladder within the space and the sheer volume of material. By being a separate panel you can choose if you want the floor down or not. How do I talk my wife into one of these? Ah, the toughest question. Not one to be taken lightly. We suggest these several features. We hope this helps. UseHow do I get the cover to tighten correctly?
Proper installation of the cover is essential to the long term care of both the tent and the cover. The cover is the only thing between your tent and the elements. There are a couple tricks to fitting the cover correctly. First, ensure the cover is on the right direction. Put the ratchet mechanism on the side most easily accessed. Fit the corners as squarely as possible. Pull the strap attached to the ratchet mechanism tightly to the right by pulling on the strap from the corner to the right of the ratchet. Now follow that strap around the tent to each corner in a counter clockwise direction and pull the slack out of the strap. Follow this process around the tent until you return to the open end of the strap. Insert open end of strap into ratchet, pull snug, then ratchet tight a few clicks. Return to each corner to make sure it is below the base panel of the tent. Return to the ratchet and finish tightening. Don’t over tighten the ratchet as this may cause too much strain on the stitching. The purpose of this procedure is to pre-tighten the strap and create even tightening all around the tent. The sleeve the strap runs through generates friction as it goes around, so if you don’t pull the slack out the ratchet generates all the stress at the first corner to the left and none on the other side of the tent. This will wear out the cover prematurely. I lost my poles. Can I get replacements? Just one? Replacement poles are available. They are only available in sets at this time. Please check the Awnings and Accessories page in this section. If you do not see them there, please contact us and we will help you with this. How do the T-Top and Shower Skirt walls attach? The walls for the T-Top and Shower Skirt attach to the perimeter of the overhanging base by either a male welt and female extrusion combination or the same combined with a hook and loop fastening system. Each system encloses to the side of the vehicle with extra wide panel laying up the vehicle sides. How does the tent open? When closed the tent is folded in half length wise. The tent is opened by extending the ladder to full length, and pulling down on the ladder end creating a cantilever effect pulling the top panel up and over the side of the vehicle. Once you have pulled the ladder down to close to vertical, you pull the ladder away from the vehicle to complete the unfolding of the tent. The tent will set itself up, pretty much like a story book. Once the top panel is hinging toward the ground away from the truck, place the ladder on the ground to support the overhang. Reverse this process to close. How do I adjust the height of the ladder? Spring loaded positioning pins are located on each side of the ladder. To shorten the ladder, drill several new holes further up the vertical rungs at a height to your liking. Make sure to leave a degree of slope you are comfortable with to climb the ladder. Can you put the ladder up after you are in the tent? No. The ladder is an integral part of the support for the tent when open. There are 2 extrusions that run from the hinges to the top of the ladder. This configuration, combined with the ladder, actually supports the outer half of the tent when open. To view products, select a category at the top of this page. |
