Uintas, Backpacking, July '03

The back country of the Uinta Mountain Range can be a very rugged place. To those that venture there, it can offer crystal clear lakes and breathtaking views. You must be prepared to meet the elements head on, as it has been known to snow in July in this high altitude wonderland. This trek led us to a system of lakes high above Trial Lake, and West of Bald Mountain. We didn't see anyone for several days. We had the right gear to make the trip memorable and safe. One thing I learned is that Dezi, our black lab, loves to swim after fishing lures. Good for the fish, bad for the fisherman.
