The Rubicon Trail was perhaps the most rugged stretch of mountain trail I have witnessed. Though I did not always take the hard line as my friends did, I was never the less challenged by the magnitude of the boulders and the enormity of the surroundings. You begin to feel small, when the rocks you travel over rival the size of your vehicle.

Granite is an interesting surface to navigate when you are seasoned on sandstone. It is granular and sharp, and will give way or cut you with out warning. I was lucky enough to travel with a very experienced group on this trail. We kept each other in check and we all made it home. A truly successful trek.
