Hole in the Rock Trail, October '03

In the infancy of the LDS Church, efforts were underway to populate the Utah Territory in an effort to claim the land. One such effort was a courageous expedition through an area East of Escalante toward what is now the SouthEastern corner of the state. Their trials are now a thing of legend from the harshness they endured. The trail they paved is called the Hole in the Rock Trail, and to travel it by vehicle, you gain a new appreciation for their pioneer ingenuity. They took horse drawn wagons over terrain I would not dare to drive today.

The area we visited is South of Hall's Crossing Marina at Lake Powell, and is a several day out and back trip. I would rate it a 3+ in skill, and a 10 in beauty.
